Swami and friends - Review of a book authored by Shri. RK Narayan

Reading books is often seen as a boring task by many people and I was one those many. But that perception changed, when I was greeted by a fact that , books are simplest means of expressing one's imagination when compared to other mediums like drama, cinema etc. You require an imagination, few papers, pens and start your own book. Great! isn't it! Wonderful according to me.

I read 'Wings of fire' by Shri. APJ Abdul Kalam which was a Autobiography. A search for book with imagination  as  basis and yet be very simple to understand ended up me reading a book called 'Swami and friends' written by Shri. R.K. Narayanan.

Book is a collection of 19 chapters describing life of a six to seven year old kid named Swami born and being brought up at Malgudi, a fictitious Village and a product of Shri R.K. Narayan's imagination. And the story dates back to period of 1940's during which India was still under  the control of Britishers. The book gives a wholesome picture of a kid, his friends, his family and his studies. You will end up reading book as easily as possible. You can find Swami meeting his new friend Rajam, teaching Grandma about cricket, breaking his school glass panes, fearing his father, fighting with his friends, running away from his home after behaving rudely with his school headmaster etc. These are few highlights about a boy who has does everything which he can do in his age.Narration is sweet and engaging. You can read the book from link below.

eega - Telugu Movie review ( Naan Eee in Tamil)

Director:   S.S.Rajamouli
Producer:   Suresh Babu
Music Director:   M.M. Keeravani
Lead actor: Nani
Lead actress: Samantha
Villain: Kiccha Sudeep

Eega film is an adventurous venture for Director Rajamouli. It is quiet difficult to make a film out of a fly i.e Eega. And Director has used all his senses to make sure that film turns out to become a good entertainer for the audience. I believe it has been successful to a good extent.

Film exactly concentrates on Eega and nothing else. The love story between leads is as usual, introduction of a villain is as usual and Villain killing hero for heroin is also usual. But the unusual aspect of the film is the soul of hero getting into a fly and the fly's effort of killing villain becoming successful.

Best part of the entire film is Mr. Sudeep and his marvelous acting in an graphical environment. His expressions are scary as well as jovial. His acting was really comical to see him with a Hit in his hand to kill troubling fly,if I were in his place would have used a ultraviolet insect repellent to get rid of Eega. His in-between Kannada dialogues gets huge applause among Kannada audience including me.

Film would have turned out to be more entertaining, if the Eega was given a voice throughout the movie. Music is great, action sequences are great, graphic and camera work especially the slow motion capturing done  is superb.

A best movie for kids to whom the film is really aimed at, since the film begins as a story being told by a father to his kid.Take your kids to the film and see them enjoying the stunts of Eega.

I give three out of five stars for the movie, but if I were a kid I would have given five out of five.

A superb song from the film specially for you
