Sky fall (2012)- Movie Review

Produced by Eon productions
Directed by Sam Mendes
Written by John Logan, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade
Cast:
Javier Bardem as Raoul Silva, the film's Villain
Judi Dench who plays the role of M

Never had watched Bond film on theater screens so decided to spend on the latest Bond Movie titled "Sky fall". Always careful to read the reviews before watching any film was quite positive and excited of being greeted with an good entertainer in the cinema hall.

In the last minute just after plan to watch the movie was fixed, I was shocked to read the comments of the people who had already watched the movie. Many termed it as boring.... :p

Well could not change the plan and along with my friend got into the cinema hall with the tickets in hand. We were late for few minutes and hence had to run from ticket counter to the screen. Ran like a Bond to watch a  Bond movie.. LOL.

Occupied our seats and hall was filled with few vacant seats.. Film was on the roll...

Next Two hours was fun...

Bond means different for different people.. For the people in India he is a guy who is assisted with latest gadgets to complete most difficult tasks in the most difficult situations at most difficult locations of the world.

But that kind of Bond was missing in this film. Here you will find a Bond who is filmed to reality than to a fiction. The story is believable... in other words it is Classic... which speaks of life of True Secret Agents and their true struggle.

Film had been successful in exposing  mind of the people who are in power and the emotions they undergo while ordering for execution of their own people in a battle for the sake of their own country which was the case with character 'M'.

Bue to misunderstanding, their own friends turn foe and as a result you will find Raoul Silva, a former MI6 agent hunting for 'M'. Same situation was experienced by James Bond who was too executed under the instructions of 'M' for the sake of country but still he was wise enough to understand the compulsions of high profile jobs after he escaped the attack. Later puts his life under risk to save the same 'M'.

Film speaks about the ethics, film speaks about sacrifice. One of the best theme in the film is about the fact that this time enemy is not in any other country nor any other organisation, it is their own people. The enemy is misunderstanding and Bond is once again successful in hunting it down.

Of all the film, it was one particular sequence wherein Bond waits for the Villain in an old House called 'Sky fall' along with 'M' and an old man which thrilled me a lot.

Reactions of Villain was quiet entertaining who is unpredictable in nature but still justifies the character he plays to a best extent...

You will not find any new gadgets, not so sexy ladies, but the film portrays the true lives of secret agents...Kudos to Bond team for come out with a good one...

And I was relieved for not being fooled with any childish stories...on the their hand there were many scenes which lasted for few seconds..poor editing...!!!

Four out of Five stars for a Classic story line...!!!

Lastly obituaries to 'M' who will be seen for the last time in the Bond films..!!!

Brothers- Movie review ( Maatran in Tamil)

Director: K.V. Anand
Producer: Bellamkonda Suresh
Music Director: Harris Jayaraj
Lyricst: Chandra Bose , Vanamali
Actors:
Surya Sivakumar as Vimal/Akhil
Kajal Aggarwal as Anjali

College ended earlier and I had time to watch one of my favorite star Surya on Screen. This time he had doled the role of a Siamese twin in the film Brothers ( in telugu) which in tamil was released as Matraan. It was a last minute decision to watch the film on a day other than weekend and a search on google took me as well as my college mate to a theatre near Kanteerva stadium.
We missed the first song but not the storyline. To speak in general Directors are knee bent to showcase surya as a savior of the world be it in "yelam arivu" where he saves the people from deadly disease or the matraan/Brothers. In this film, he saves India from an adulterated food scam.
Intentions are good but the way stories were told doesn’t convince the audience. When matters of saving the country/saving the world are taken as a plot it requires a intense level of commitment. A director really needs to visualize himself on the top of the world so that he can really understand the pulse of a country or the world as whole.
But the film failed to showcase that genuine concern of the director for the betterment of the country or the world. We can easily make out that hero and director wanted to make a good commercial popcorn picture. When they wish for pure commercial success, it is better to leave the world or country saving concepts because a man who thinks for the world needs to think more than about money. So in this way, the Brothers have all types of masala as required for a commercial film but by touching a noble plot, director has weakened the screenplay which makes concept a dud.Music is completely out of sync with the theme. But the foreign actors have contributed to  a  good part of the film..!!I request directors of the film not to play with true emotions of a person just for minting money..I give two and a half out of five and this is mainly for my dear actor Surya…!!!!

A good song from the movie which I enjoyed the best for you... :)

Mouna Guru - Tamil movie review

Mouna Guru-2011-Tamil movie Review
Director: Sandhakumar
Music Director: Thaman S
Lyricst: Vaali , Na.Muthukumar
Cast: Arulnidhi , Iniya

'Mouna Guru' - going by the name and posters of this film, comfortably a picture is created in the minds of avid film goer and the assumption will like to see the hero becoming a social icon who can change the society silently.

But the fact is completely upside down and the story is no match to either the title or the posters- it is different. I would even go to the extent that director has used the trick of dupe publicity in order to pull the attention of crowd. Then you can raise a question about film's successful performance. The reason is simple - director duped but did not disappoint.

Story deals about a lead actor who suffers at hands of dark minded people filled with ideas of selfishness. Starting from a group of policemen who desire for easy money, then extends to the principle of college who desires to hide stealing quality of his son from the society, later it is the doctor who is successful in framing the lead to be a mentally challenged person.

So the question remains about the way which hero finds to rein in on this mischievous elements, more than the hero it is his good luck in the film which saves him from clutches of fake encounters.

Film is a thrilling ride which has made the director proud for an enchanting screenplay. And the lead has been selected for the story which suits to his shape, size and behaviour.

It is three out of five from my side and big round of applause.

yenna idhu song rocks... :)

Swami and friends - Review of a book authored by Shri. RK Narayan

Reading books is often seen as a boring task by many people and I was one those many. But that perception changed, when I was greeted by a fact that , books are simplest means of expressing one's imagination when compared to other mediums like drama, cinema etc. You require an imagination, few papers, pens and start your own book. Great! isn't it! Wonderful according to me.

I read 'Wings of fire' by Shri. APJ Abdul Kalam which was a Autobiography. A search for book with imagination  as  basis and yet be very simple to understand ended up me reading a book called 'Swami and friends' written by Shri. R.K. Narayanan.

Book is a collection of 19 chapters describing life of a six to seven year old kid named Swami born and being brought up at Malgudi, a fictitious Village and a product of Shri R.K. Narayan's imagination. And the story dates back to period of 1940's during which India was still under  the control of Britishers. The book gives a wholesome picture of a kid, his friends, his family and his studies. You will end up reading book as easily as possible. You can find Swami meeting his new friend Rajam, teaching Grandma about cricket, breaking his school glass panes, fearing his father, fighting with his friends, running away from his home after behaving rudely with his school headmaster etc. These are few highlights about a boy who has does everything which he can do in his age.Narration is sweet and engaging. You can read the book from link below.

eega - Telugu Movie review ( Naan Eee in Tamil)

Director:   S.S.Rajamouli
Producer:   Suresh Babu
Music Director:   M.M. Keeravani
Lead actor: Nani
Lead actress: Samantha
Villain: Kiccha Sudeep

Eega film is an adventurous venture for Director Rajamouli. It is quiet difficult to make a film out of a fly i.e Eega. And Director has used all his senses to make sure that film turns out to become a good entertainer for the audience. I believe it has been successful to a good extent.

Film exactly concentrates on Eega and nothing else. The love story between leads is as usual, introduction of a villain is as usual and Villain killing hero for heroin is also usual. But the unusual aspect of the film is the soul of hero getting into a fly and the fly's effort of killing villain becoming successful.

Best part of the entire film is Mr. Sudeep and his marvelous acting in an graphical environment. His expressions are scary as well as jovial. His acting was really comical to see him with a Hit in his hand to kill troubling fly,if I were in his place would have used a ultraviolet insect repellent to get rid of Eega. His in-between Kannada dialogues gets huge applause among Kannada audience including me.

Film would have turned out to be more entertaining, if the Eega was given a voice throughout the movie. Music is great, action sequences are great, graphic and camera work especially the slow motion capturing done  is superb.

A best movie for kids to whom the film is really aimed at, since the film begins as a story being told by a father to his kid.Take your kids to the film and see them enjoying the stunts of Eega.

I give three out of five stars for the movie, but if I were a kid I would have given five out of five.

A superb song from the film specially for you

Addhuri - Kannada film review

Addhuri(2012) Kannada Movie

Info :-

Cast : Dhruv Sarja, Radhika Pandit
Director : AP Arjun
Music : V Harikrishna
Lyrics : Yograj Bhat
Producer : Shankar Reddy
Cinematography: Soorya S Kiran
Editor : Deepu S Kumar
Choreography : Imran, Harsha
Stunts : Ravi Varma
Arts : Mohan B Kere
Audio : Anand Audio

Addhuri - A film by Director Vijay of Ambari fame.. To watch the film you need to take your girl friend or wife along as the film of that sorts which deals with the anger between the couples. Cinema has a simple screen play about a couple who are involved in deep love but due to silly reason a break arises in between them.

The rest of film is the hero's struggle to revive the love in his lady's heart by taking her to the places visited by them while they were together. Though the reason for break seems to be silly but we need to appreciate the Director's message about difference between flirt and true love. Film is a beautiful combination of good dialogues, comedy track, audible music and a simple to understand message. The film has some name sake fight scenes too for people who like action. Careful selection of actors has made the director's imagination come true.

On the whole film is like a good popcorn- light food with a good taste on a weekend eve..I give four out of five stars for the film and thumbs up for Director Vijay who struggled for around two years to get the film released.

'Ammate' song for those romeos having till neck anger on their selection -

How to check purity of your Gold ornaments....????

Recently I had watched a program on TV9 which had made an investigation on quality of Gold we purchase across Bangalore. To the shock of team, it found that many jewellery stores were selling Gold ornaments with Gold content of around 75% against the requirement of 91.6 % as suggested by Bureau of Indian standards for 22karat jewellery.

So I came across following information about the Gold jewellery  in India to be shared with you:

What is Pure Gold ?
Gold is a natural metal. Gold jewelry is usually described in terms of caratage which is an indication of its gold content, for example 22 carat or 22K. Pure Gold is 24 carats (i.e. 99.9% pure). Such a metal in its purest state is very soft and impractical for making jewels- so do not watch out for ornaments with 24karat.

To create jewelry that is practically wearable, gold has to be alloyed with other harder metals in the required proportions to make it malleable and durable. It is then called 22K, 18K and so on depending on the percentage of alloy that is added.

Gold jewelry used in India are of the following caratage:

Karat                Purity
22 kt Gold       91.6% Pure
21 kt Gold       87.5% Pure
18 kt Gold       75.0% Pure

What are alloys?

Alloys are basically mixtures of more than one metal, usually added to increase the strength and enhance the colour of Gold. Copper and Silver are the commonly used metals in a Gold alloy.

What is 916 KDM Gold?

The common Gold alloy to be used in any good quality gold jewel is 22 Kt Gold. It means that the gold is 91.6 % pure and hence the name 916 Pure Gold, an internationally accepted standard and KDM stands for cadmium based soldering of Gold.

Note: KDM stamping on jewels is just an indication of type of alloy used in jewellery and it is not a certification whereas BIS hallmarking certifies the purity of Gold.

What is a Hallmarked Jewelry?

Hallmarking is a method of assessing the purity of gold by a competent authority. Hallmarking certifies that the jewelry conforms to National/International Standards of Purity. In India, the BIS, i.e., Bureau of Indian Standards undertakes certification of purity of gold jewelry in accordance with Indian Standards IS:1417 Grades of Gold & Gold Alloys.

Every hallmarked jewel consists of the BIS logo, fineness number - caratage and mark of the BIS recognized assaying and hallmarking centre.

So the next time you step into buying your ornaments insist on BIS Hallmarking, if you still have doubts you can cross check the purity at any of the BIS Hallmark testing centers authorized by BIS.
